Spring Styled Shoot And The Start Of A Dream

Spring as a season always makes us think of fresh starts and new beginnings, so what better way to mark the first chapter of the Wisteria & Wild journey than with a styled shoot centred around spring wildflowers. Little did we know at the start just how much of a love letter to the Wisteria & Wild brand values this shoot would truly become.

The inspiration for this theme was all based around the emergence of the new season: the soft colours and delicate nature of spring blooms against stalwart strength of bare winter wood, and a blank slate ready to begin your new journey as a married couple, so what better venue to treat as our canvas than Pinglestone Barn near Alresford. This rustic barn in a semi-rural location surrounded by watercress fields and the Louis Pommery vineyards is catered by The Little Kitchen Company but is otherwise a dry hire venue meaning you can truly make the space your own.

Initially armed with just the venue and our vision for the day, our Spring Wildflower shoot really did come together as a testament to community and collaboration. Our first suppliers on board were The Dotti Cake Company, who Lizzy has used for years for her own family occasions, and Business Is Blooming, another personal friend and long-time collaborator, but the magic truly happened when our model couple, Sophie and Ollie, joined the day.

Engaged to be married later in the year, Sophie straight away introduced us to Carolyn from Olivia George Bridal where she had chosen her own wedding dress, and who happened to be based mere minutes away. Luckily the choice of dresses on hand were so vast that we could happily pick not one but three different gowns for the day that truly embodied our whimsical, flower-inspired theme without giving the game away to Ollie about Sophie’s own wedding dress. And with three gowns chosen, we could hardly leave Ollie behind on the number of outfit changes, with Charles Gale Formalwear on hand providing a selection of suits that not only complimented the rustic venue and the dresses but really showed how creative you can be with your groomswear.

Rounding out the team were Miranda, the celebrant whose quirky and personal celebrant style was guaranteed to bring pizzazz and personality to the day, and Jade from Ivy & Wild, a truly talented florist who at the time was just starting her foray into event styling.
It really couldn’t be more apt that shoot day itself – with glorious spring sunshine and one of Lauren’s notoriously upbeat playlists – is what really started the Wisteria and Wild journey to where we are today. Despite the small team, our ambitious plan for the day was designed to show off everyone’s talents along with our gorgeous location, with photography set-ups ranging from flat-lays and artistic dress shots, to a handfasting ceremony, couple’s top table, gin-blending and cake cutting. And show off we did, in the best possible way!

Sophie and Ollie immediately fell in love with Lucy’s work, promptly booking her for their own wedding, and as fate would have it they had already reserved The Dotti Cake Company for December. Carolyn and Miranda bonded over the drink selection for the gin-blending ceremony – a truly unique allegory for the blending of two lives into a marriage – and between dancing to some very cheesy pop tunes and the last fall of Flutter, Darlings! confetti, the beginning of a new brand was born.

The collaboration, support, love and laughter of that shoot became the seed of Wisteria and Wild as it is today. Our styled shoot began as an opportunity to create content that elevated our individual business and the people we were working with, but in doing so we realized that they weren’t alone in our desire to create something new in our wedding world, and to continue that feeling of celebration and community that we found on the day.

At its core, our belief is to support and champion our fellow creatives as much as it is to help find wild-spirited couples their dream suppliers in an overwhelming industry. Which is why when you see ‘Handpicked and Loved’ on our suppliers list you can truly believe that every member of the community will love your wedding just as much as you do.
